Mike Pence suspends his struggling 2024 campaign
Vice President Mike Pence has suspended his potentially struggling 2024 presidential campaign, citing a lack of time and resources due to his responsibilities as vice president.
In a statement, Pence said that he has “greatly appreciated the support of those who have considered me for the highest office in the land” but that it would be “imprudent” for him to continue his presidential bid due to his current governmental responsibilities.
He added that he looked forward to seeing the Republican Party unified in the 2024 election and that he remained committed to advancing the agenda of President Donald Trump.
Pence has long been seen as a potential presidential candidate for 2024 but has not taken any concrete steps toward formally launching a campaign due to his responsibilities to the Trump administration. It is unclear if he will launch a campaign in the future or choose to pursue other ambitions.
