Rite Aid bankruptcy means pharmacies will keep dwindling
Rite Aid’s recent bankruptcy filing could result in more pharmacy closings for the company, but it also could mean the same for other pharmacies, as well. With the filing of chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, Rite Aid is expecting to close at least 500 of its pharmacies. This closure could lead to further consolidation in the pharmacy industry, resulting in fewer pharmacies across the country. This could have a ripple effect on other pharmacies. Providers may choose to close their pharmacies as a result of decreased competition. This could make it even more difficult for consumers to find convenient options for purchasing medications.
