House adopts ‘clean’ stopgap funding bill possibly averting shutdown
The House of Representatives adopted a stopgap funding bill on December 21, 2018, that will fund the government through February 8, 2019, possibly averting a government shutdown. This bill does not include funding for President Trump’s wall along the US-Mexico border, an issue that was threatening to cause a government shutdown over the holidays. The bill passed with bipartisan support in a 251-169 vote. The legislation now heads to the Senate, where it is expected to be approved in time to avoid a government shutdown.
