Congress begins to admit it’s running out of time to avoid a government shutdown
Congress is aware that the government is rapidly approaching the October 1st deadline to avoid a government shutdown and is beginning to admit that it may be running out of time. Congress needs to pass a continuing resolution to avoid a shutdown, but negotiations between Democrats and Republicans have been slow-going. If Congress can’t pass a measure to fund the government before the deadline, hundreds of thousands of federal employees could be furloughed and essential services may be impacted.
