Care.com settles charges it inflated jobs listings and forced membership renewals
Online care platform Care.com has settled charges that it posted misleading information about job opportunities and forced members to automatically renew their subscriptions. The agreement requires Care.com to pay around $1 million in redress to misled consumers and reform its business practices.
Care.com was accused by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) of misrepresenting the amount of active caregivers on its platform and failing to take down old or filled job postings. This led users to believe there were more job opportunities than there actually were.
