Why orange juice is so expensive
There are a few reasons that orange juice can be expensive:
1. Production Costs: It takes around 12-15 oranges to make a gallon of orange juice. The cost of growing, harvesting, and transporting these oranges is substantial.
2. Processing: Turning those oranges into juice is also expensive. The oranges have to be squeezed, the juice pasteurized (a heating process that kills bacteria and other microorganisms), then often concentrated and frozen. All of this requires expensive equipment and energy.
