DOJ reaches settlement with ex-FBI ‘lovebirds’ caught in anti-Trump text scandal
On November 30, 2021, the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) reached a settlement with two former FBI employees, Lisa Page and Peter Strzok, who became infamous for their text messages critical of then-candidate Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign.
Their messages, which were exchanged while they were having an affair, were made public and became a focal point of Republican criticism of the FBI investigation into Trump’s possible ties to Russia. The disparaging texts led
