Michael Cohen admits to inadvertently citing fake cases generated by AI in legal motion
Michael Cohen, an attorney, has admitted to inadvertently citing fake cases generated by AI in a legal motion. In a statement to Law360, Cohen expressed sincere remorse for the error and apologized to the court for any confusion that may have been caused. He has since filed a revised motion excluding the fake cases. Cohen noted that he became aware of the matter “during an ongoing case audit process,” during which he “discovered a software program had generated a few unverified cases.” He added that the cases had been “inadvertently included” in the motion by members of his staff.
