House leftists include antisemitism in resolution condemning Islamophobia, ‘anti-Palestinian discrimination’

House leftists have included language condemning antisemitism, among other forms of discrimination, in a resolution that aims to condemn Islamophobia, homophobia, and “anti-Palestinian discrimination.” The resolution, which was introduced by Democratic Congresswoman Betty McCollum of Minnesota on Tuesday, was co-sponsored by several progressive lawmakers including Representatives Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib. “The House is committed to condemning all forms of bigotry, including Islamophobia, homophobia, racism, xenophobia, bigotry targeted at immigrants, and anti-Semitism,” the resolution reads. It also calls on the Department of Education to include information about Islamic heritage and contributions in its curriculum. The resolution is part of an ongoing effort by Democrats to combat hate in the US in light of a rise of bigotry-related incidents, particularly in the wake of Donald Trump’s presidency.
