Circle Obtains Conditional Registration in France, Names Operations Leader
Circle, Inc., a leading blockchain-based financial services company, has been granted conditional registration by the French financial regulator, the Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF). The approved operation marks an important step for the international expansion of Circle’s growing suite of products and services.
To drive this effort, Circle is onboarding Alexandre Verney, former Chief Executive Officer of Deloitte’s European Investment Solutions unit, as European General Manager. Verney will lead Circle’s operational activities in France, as well as its commercial and client services for the broader EMEA region.
Circle’s conditional registration, which enables retail and institutional clients to access Circle’s portfolio of blockchain-based products in France, covers services ranging from foreign exchange trading and exchange-traded products to investment management and other digital asset services. The filing signifies an important step forwards in Circle’s global strategy.
In addition to France, Circle already has presence in the US, UK, Singapore, and across the Asia-Pacific region.
Circle’s CEO, Jeremy Allaire, commented on the news. “We’re thrilled to have Alex join our team and to be making this important entry into the French market. It’s an important step in our vision of bringing blockchain-based financial services to consumers and businesses around the world.”
He added, “We’re now well positioned to build on the success we’ve seen in other markets and create new and innovative ways to empower the digital asset economy.”
Verney commented, “Circle is very well positioned to make a difference in this exciting emerging technology space. I am delighted to join the Circle family and leverage my experience working in French and European capital markets, to help realise the company’s mission to build the foundation of the global financial system. Together with the growing team in Paris I look forward to helping to bring Circle’s products and services to France, Europe and beyond.”
