Russian Bailiffs Will Get More Powers to Seize CBDC & Crypto

Assets

The Federal Bailiff Service in Russia is looking at ways to prevent crypto and Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) assets from becoming a haven for privacy-focused criminals. The service is currently considering extending its powers to be able to seize crypto and CBDC assets, the head of the agency, Artem Avetisyan, announced on Thursday. Avetisyan revealed that the FBS, also known as the Federal Service for Execution of Punishments, is focusing on the potential misuse of the cryptos and CBDCs for “financial fraud, money laundering, and other criminal activities.” He believes that by granting them the power to seize these assets, they will be able to better track these nefarious activities and bring the perpetrators to justice.
