Top Anheuser-Busch marketing executive is leaving after collapse in Bud Light sales

Anheuser-Busch’s chief marketing officer, Marcel Marcondes, is leaving the company after a sharp decline in sales of its flagship Bud Light brand. In a statement, the company said Marcondes was leaving “after consulting with the board,” and thanked him for his service.

Marcondes had been in the role since 2010 and was responsible for Bud Light’s decline in sales over the past couple of years. The company blamed the poor performance of Bud Light on the changing tastes of beer drinkers as well as increased competition from other beer brands. Anheuser-Busch is now looking for a replacement to help reverse the slide in sales and reverse the overall decline in beer drinking in the United States.
