House Democrat Anna Eshoo announces she will not seek reelection
California Congresswoman Anna Eshoo, a veteran Democrat who has represented her district since 1993, announced on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, that she will not seek reelection to the U.S. House of Representatives for the 2022 election.
Eshoo expressed her appreciation for the gratitude and appreciation given to her by voters. She stated that she wanted to make her decision now out of respect so that other candidates have enough time to prepare.
Eshoo has served on the House Energy and Commerce Committee throughout her time in office, as well as the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. During her 28 years in office, she has emerged as an outspoken advocate for protecting the environment, expanding access to health care, and safeguarding internet privacy and competition.
In a statement, Eshoo said that representing the “intellectual, diverse, and progressive” Silicon Valley was a tremendous honor and among the highlights of her career. She also promised to work hard between now and her last day in office, to protect the principles and values she has served her constituents for so long.
