Dean Phillips supporters launch ads attacking Biden’s electability
Supporters of Democratic congressional candidate and former Vice President Joe Biden have launched a new series of ads attacking Minnesota’s U.S. Rep. Dean Phillips — one of several Democratic candidates challenging Biden in the 2020 presidential primary. The new ads, which will run in several key primary states, focus on Phillips’ electability, claiming that he cannot be trusted with the nation’s security and healthcare. They argue that Phillips, who has been critical of Biden’s record on foreign policy, does not have the “experience or judgment” to be president. The ads also targeted Biden on healthcare, accusing him of favoring “corporate insurance companies” over the public’s interests. The ads are an attempt to undercut Phillips’ support in the early caucus states of Iowa and New Hampshire, where Biden is currently trailing significantly in the polls.
