Senate Republicans erupt in anger over Tuberville’s military freeze

Senate Republicans have erupted in anger in response to Senator Tommy Tuberville’s decision to freeze all military promotions. Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) called Tuberville’s move “insane,” while Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) described it as “a reckless decision designed for political posturing.” Other Republicans, such as Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), have likewise criticized the move; pointing out that promotions in the military are supposed to be determined based on merit rather than political agendas. Tuberville’s move was met with particular ire from veterans of the armed forces, who saw it as a politicization of the U.S. military.
