Trump announces North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum as Department of the Interior secretary
Rep. Pramila Jayapal’s sister looks to join her in Congress
Rep. Pramila Jayapal’s younger sister, Mona Das, has announced a campaign for Congress in Washington’s 8th congressional district in 2020. If elected, they would become the first sisters to represent the same district in Congress. Das is running on a progressive platform that includes Medicare-for-All, climate action, and solidarity with immigrant communities. She has started the grassroots campaign with a promise to build a “movement of bold, progressive change.” Her sister, Rep. Jayapal, has faced criticism in the past for her commitment to progressive policies but maintains a high approval rating in her district. Das’s campaign is currently underway and could potentially offer Washington voters an additional progressive choice for Congress.
