Law firm rescinds job offers to Harvard students over Israel letters

In April 2021, a major international law firm, Kirkland & Ellis, rescinded job offers to seven Harvard Law School students who had signed an open letter raising concerns about the school’s relationship with Israeli companies complicit in human rights violations. The students had signed a petition expressing their solidarity with marginalized communities in Israel and Palestine. Kirkland & Ellis said the students had exhibited “conduct inconsistent with our policies and values.” In response, students, faculty, and alumni at Harvard Law School collectively called for the firm to reverse its decision and for the school to reevaluate its relationship with the firm.
