Romney uses Biden’s own words against him, calls for president to join him in retirement: ‘Time to transition’

Mitt Romney has been fiercely critical of President Joe Biden and his administration, and is now invoking the Vice President’s own words to call for him to join him in retirement.

In a tweet Tuesday night, Romney quoted Biden’s remarks from last October in which the then-candidate said he would retire if elected president.

“It’s time to transition. Joe Biden said last October: ‘If I’m elected president, my presidency will be a transition to a new generation of American leadership.’ Let’s make it happen,” Romney said.

He then added an American flag emoji.

Romney, a former Massachusetts governor and Republican presidential candidate, has been an outspoken critic of Biden’s leadership, both as a candidate and since entering the White House.

In March, the Utah senator criticized Biden’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic, saying on Fox News: “He is not leading. He is barely following. He is doing a disappointing job.”

Romney has also been a vocal critic of Biden’s plans for increasing taxes and spending.
