Pay P23-B estate tax, Isko tells Marcos Jr.

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno has called on former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to pay the P23-billion estate tax that his family allegedly owes to the government.
In a press conference, Moreno said that the Marcos family has been evading taxes for decades, and it is time for them to settle their obligations to the government.
“The Marcoses have been living a lavish lifestyle for years, and yet they have not paid their taxes. It is time for them to pay what they owe to the Filipino people,” Moreno said.
The mayor added that the P23-billion estate tax is just a fraction of the total amount that the Marcos family allegedly owes to the government.
“The Marcoses have been accused of stealing billions of pesos from the government during their time in power. It is time for them to face the consequences of their actions,” Moreno said.
Marcos Jr. has yet to respond to Moreno’s call for him to pay the estate tax.
The Marcos family has been accused of amassing ill-gotten wealth during the dictatorship of the late President Ferdinand Marcos. The family has denied the allegations, but they have been ordered by the courts to return some of the assets that were allegedly stolen from the government.
The Marcoses have also been accused of human rights abuses during their time in power, including the torture and killing of political opponents.
Moreno said that the Marcos family should not be allowed to get away with their alleged crimes.
“The Filipino people deserve justice, and the Marcoses should be held accountable for their actions. They should not be allowed to live a life of luxury while the rest of the country suffers,” Moreno said.
The mayor added that he will continue to push for the Marcos family to pay their taxes and return the assets that were allegedly stolen from the government.
“We will not stop until justice is served. The Marcoses should not be above the law,” Moreno said.
